I’ve been contemplating this upcoming holiday season and I wanted to offer a few thoughts and ideas each week in Dec. about creating a rich and Soulful Holiday Season.
I’m so passionate about creating a Soulful holiday season because so often I see that the very time of year that is meant to be the most Soulful – between family, busyness, stress and anxiety – can become the most Soul-less time of the year.
Unhealed family issues can cause us to retreat and just want to get through the different gatherings. We can place pressure upon ourselves to shop, give the perfect gifts or spend money because we can’t say no or stay busy so we don’t feel the pain.
I can remember the first year I gave myself permission not to send out holiday cards. For some, it brings so much joy. For me, it was one more thing on my holiday “to do” list. Once I gave myself that permission, I spent that time sitting in front of our tree doing NOTHING and those twinkling white lights and candles were the most nourishing time for me!
Covid has given us such an opportunity to reimagine our holiday season. We’re all learning to slow down. We have the opportunity not to go back to old ways of being.
The Soul appears when the body becomes still.
If you were to reimagine your holiday season this year, what would be important to you?
If you could choose only one or two qualities that are important to you this holiday season, what qualities would you choose?
What does creating a Soulful holiday season mean to you?
When you think of yourself next year this time looking back, what do you want to look back and see?
Begin to slow down, create some spaciousness and set an intention about what kind of holiday experience you want to create for yourself and those around you.
It might mean creating stronger boundaries, saying no to things that don’t really nurture your Soul, or giving yourself permission to take more time to yourself so that you are more present.
