Tomorrow is Thanksgiving (in the states), and then “Black Friday” – that in a way, signifies the start of what can be a very frenzied, busy and often LONELY time of year.
Often, we can be in the middle of a family gathering or a crowded mall and inside, be feeling incredibly alone.
If this is you, I wanted to offer you a few phrases that you can say to yourself, that will provide for you the ultimate sense of belonging – which is THE BELONGING TO YOURSELF!
Place your hand on your heart and say to yourself:
- I see that you feel alone / lonely and I’m right here for you.
- I see that you feel alone … tell me all about it. I want to know.
- I see that you feel frenzied, it’s okay to slow down.
- I see that you feel overwhelmed, what do you need from me today?
- I see that you don’t want to go to that family event. It’s so understandable.
These compassionate and connective phrases, that I call, The Language of Self Compassion, said consistently to yourself over time:
- Allow oxytocin and dopamine to be released in your body.
- Allow your nervous system to relax.
- Change your brain chemistry, rewire and allow your synapses to fire more effectively.
- Create Inner Safety
- Create Inner Peace and Inner Calm.
- Bring you back home to your heart
And most of all,
- Provide you the TRUE sense of BELONGING TO YOU!!
